I grew up decorating a fake tree (with LOTS of christmas cookies and Amy Grant playing in the background of course), then moved in with my old roommate who straight up REFUSED to get a fake tree. So we began a tradition together of picking out a tree and drinking red wine while decorating our apartment together, each with our designated jobs.

I will forever remember those times together, we still text each other our trees when they’re completed! I’ve taken on our tradition into marriage and have convinced Luke now twice (see our first year here!) to pick out a tree with me, play christmas music and drink red wine as we decorate a tree in our home.

A huge thank you Carolina Mariana for capturing our christmas card picture as well as one of our earliest adopted traditions as a couple.

The happiest of holidays to you and yours as you begin new traditions, or enjoy ones you’ve already started with the ones you love.

Friends, lovelies, fellow collectors of pretty…I hope you’re enjoying your holiday season!

I’ve put together this week’s “weekly obsessions” with some holiday style. Below are a few things I’m loving right now, all UNDER $50, as some ideas to give to the loved ones in your life or even a coworker you chose at your office gift exchange. OR, in my case, a few things on my birthday list as well 🙂 Just 8 days away until I hit my last year in my twenties. [Insert slight panic and excitement]

Merry Christmas to each of you and enjoy the most wonderful time of the year! xo

Liana, Eric and I met this past March at a Lavazza near their apartment and my office, a perfect location to relax and get to know each other. I am constantly reminded during these meeting how much they mean to me to see if my personality, approach and style will be a good fit.

Liana and Eric will be married next September 26, 2015 near the same place we walked around for their engagement shoot, Chicago’s beautiful Lincoln Park. When Liana asked about doing a toast at the end, I assured her it was the most awesome idea and captured the action as best as I could. See a new and FUN gif below for the result! Woop!

I cannot wait to follow these two along in their journey of planning (Liana sends me wedding updates and I LOVE every single one), capture their day and see where this life takes them as newlyweds. Cheers, you two! xo

Kristen is one of the girls you just know you want to be friends with, like immediately, even through email. I received her inquiry and met with her and her fiance Neil at Dollop Coffee. We chatted wedding excitement, photography details, how they met, and hopes for their June 2015 nuptials. I quickly knew this was one of those dream couples I wanted to work with and capture memories alongside!

For their engagement shoot, we met near their Lincoln Park ceremony location and just walked around. Taking in all that is Chicago fall, stopping along the way at our favorite locations. I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to capture these two, how much I love these photos (and their rooftop view!), and how excited I am for their June 2015 wedding!

One of my favorite weddings has been featured on Ever Ours today! I am so beyond excited and grateful that Lydia selected Sarah and Morgan’s downtown Chicago winter wedding for her blog. It was, and will always be, a wedding I will cherish capturing. Watching two fun, carefree, loving people come together, gathering their families, and honoring that love in a Gatsby-themed celebration. It was, the perfect winter day.

You can see the entire feature here on Ever Ours and their original post here. Morgan and Sarah, it has been a joy watching your love grow since that beautiful winter day. Thank you for trusting me as your photographer, I can imagine spending the day anywhere else!

xo,

When a couple comes to you knowing exactly where they want their engagement pictures taken, and they include iron bridges and their neighborhood hidden gems and favorite dive bar. You say yes.

I spent the day with Cindy and Ian touring the city, seeing new parts I didn’t know existed and gushing about their upcoming nuptuals at the W City Center Hotel this December. We ended the day at Cindy and Ian’s favorite local bar, where they are basically local celebrities. Ending a shoot watching some soccer and sharing a few sliders is ALWAYS alright by me.

Almost one month to go before these two day “I do”, and I’m so thrilled to be there capturing every little detail and moment.
